Do you get bored with having to cook all the time, tired of having to think of new things? Just remember, if you are cooking for others, they are privileged to have you spending all that time preparing their meals and depending on what age they are, they could always give you a break and do something too. So don’t be hard on yourself, you are doing a great job.

How could you revitalize your approach to the kitchen, break down the drudgery that sometimes creeps in? Here are some suggestions:

Take a trip around the world: Maybe for one night of the week, or one week of the month, pick a country e.g. Thailand, Japan, China, Argentina, France, Germany, Mexico, Regional & Rural Australia,Spain, and make all dishes based around the cuisine of that country. You could even dress up. Who knows what fun you might have.

Pick at random: Take a cook book, close your eyes and pick a recipe at random. You had better do this before you go shopping in case snails, quail eggs or champagne vinegar is called for. Seriously, you could give yourself three goes to get a recipe you want to cook, but give it a go, and try something new.

Ready Steady Cook! Have someone select a few main ingredients for you and make something from them. This would not be like the television show unless you are very clever and confident. You would need some time to think and build the meal around your basic building block items. But 'Yay!' it might extend you and take you to new cooking galaxies.

A night for everything. Get a piece of paper and write down descriptions like, 'Comfort food', 'Quick and easy', 'One pot stop', 'Hot and Spicy', 'Homemade pizza', 'Mince', 'Roast', 'Pasta', 'Rice'. Add others to suit your taste. Cut the bits of paper up, place them in a cup and pull them out and assign them to a night of the week. Look up some recipes that accommodate those ingredients or better still, Google it and see what comes up.

Food for Love: If you are on your own, seduce yourself with your food and if you are in a relationship, make a meal for love. That is pretty personal, so I could not tell you what that was but no matter what your budget is, you will know something that is delectable, delicious, and naughty even.

Nothing would be more tiresome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity. ~Voltaire
